Fade to Black
Happy Thirsty Thursday everybody. I know it's been forever since my last post (tell me something I don't know)but gosh darn it can I just say that it's a real challenge trying to write your thoughts, inspirations, fascinations, obsessions, fears, hopes and dreams when everyday life gets in the way and all you wanna do is get right so future posts don't start off like this. Unfortunately that's life and sometimes you gotta face the music and keep marching! So with that being said I want to spread my cheery holiday mood (insert sarcasm here) and my latest obsession with all things black, dark, elegant, simple, gloomy, mysterious and naughty. Sometimes a girl wants to see things in black and white. No grey, no beige, no color just plain black and white. Simple. No fuss. No complications. It. Just. Is. Care to join me in the anti-holiday spirit anyone?

jUsT fOr KiCkS
Well
hello there reader....how YOU doinnnnnnnnnnnnnn? After a long ass
hiatus (almost 8 moths to be exact) I decided to get back on the horse
today and share my life, thoughts and inspirations with you. Now I'll
be honest, writing and posting today was so nerve racking for me.
Somewhere in between getting caught up in every day perils that included
working a full-time corporate job, still adjusting living in a new
city, pondering whether I was in the right place professionally,
considering leaving my job, self-doubting that decision to finally
saying F it and making a huge decision for myself I just stopped
writing. My thoughts, inspirations and interests seemed to be paralyzed
with self-doubt, fears, insecurities and uncertainties regarding my
life professionally.
In
early July I finally made the decision to quit my full-time job and got
a part-time gig to allow me more time to pursue my styling career (the
very reason why I moved to LA).
The
decision, once made felt like the best thing I could have done for
myself. It taught me to trust my gut and not to question myself if I
was unhappy about something. I learned that unfortunately you cannot
change people or certain situations, but you CAN change yourself, the
way you view things and the manner in which you handle hardships. It
also taught me an even bigger lesson which I'm sure I'll be learning
over and over again through my journey in life. It taught me that not
everything in life is what it seems and there will be A WHOLE LOT of
unexpected twists and turns in your life. It's not the hardships that
define your character but how you handle it and what you learn from it.
Now that I have a bit more time and mental freedom in my
life I finally feel a sense of space and peace in my heart to crave and
express my love of fashion, art, music, makeup and food. After all,
the reason for the start of my blog was to share my interests in all
those facets of my life. With ALL that being said I hope you are as
excited to read my future posts as I am to share them. Feels damn GOOD
to be back in the land of creation. Much love to all who have supported
me through this journey called life. Love Y'all! Xoxo.
Just
for Kicks, I wanted to share with you guys A video that takes me back
to a time when fashion was simple, yet had some street flair. A time
when music videos had a budget that defined the term less is more. A time when
style icons where musicians with their OWN sense of style no gimmicks,
no "looks" just authenticity to the fullest! I happen to go on youtube
yesterday searching for back in the day videos I love and came across this one.
Janet Jackson's Pleasure Principle video. I gotta say this is one of my favorite music videos of ALL TIME! Ladies
I know y'all remember this one.....we all wanted to be her at one
point. The choreagraphy to this video was and still is EVERYTHING!!!!! Miss Jackson worked it!!! She did the damn thanggggg on this song and worked the hell
outta them sneakers and knee pads too! Check it out:
What do you know funky, street style sneakers are back in again. Just this time they come back with a little more pep in their step (pun intended). From spikes, to gold coatings, leopard printed to wedge sneakers (yes people, you read correctly) Sneakers are back in full effect (for some of us they never f*ckin left biatch) Check out my polyvore collage below, showcasing some of the kicks I think are funky FRESH 80s style. Peace.

Crazy Fashion Adventures on a Saturday Morning
Finally, after much anticipation the Versace for H&M collection made its debut on Saturday November 19, 2011. Not surprising was the madness that followed with people camping out as early as Friday morning in many locations throughout the world to get first dibs to shop the collection. I, for once hadn't even planned on joining in on the fashion frenzy, but got lured in when I took a peek at the look book the night before. I instantly fell in love with the black floral corset in the collection and decided (at 3am) that I would wake up early & take a chance with the rest of the fanatics to see what the fuss was all about. Waking up at 5:30am as originally scheduled was not in the cards for me, as I decided to hit the snooze button and go back to sleep. Of course my internal alarm wouldn't have it and I was up by 7. I figured what the hell, let me head down there and wing it. To my surprise The H&M in the Beverly Center here in LA had only but 50 people lined up in front of the store so I thought it was just too good to be true and that luck just happened to be on my side-WRONG! All the fashion campers who had been lined up in front of the store from the night before, happened to get first access with color coded wristbands with time slots. (DUH!) When I finally got into the store at 9am, I was still in denial thinking I could sneak into the gated women's area, (let's not even discuss the men's collection which SOLD OUT BY 9AM). I figured I'd find a way in, but that was a fail as well....there was security guard guarding the gates like it was Buckingham Palace. So, I finally implemented plan B....look for someone with a wristband. Low and behold I decided to start chatting up this sweet guy who happened to be wearing the 10am time slot band and surprisingly no one lined up next to me noticed. Chatting with him he told me how he and his friends had been there since 3am and that they were all shopping for their girlfriends and friends....that was the sweetest thing I had heard....because he was a nice guy I felt a little guilty asking him to grab something for me, but I have to admit I knew this was my chance to take a stab at it and asked him if he didn't mind to grab an item while he was in there, since I didn't have the golden ticket....I mean wristband Lol!. To my surprise he agreed with no qualms, he didn't ask for any money for the favor he plainly said "OK." I was shocked and so I told him what I wanted and suggested that whatever he grabbed for his girlfriend if he could grab two of it. So after the 20 minute time slot he was allotted (thankfully he came out in one piece), I scored a few cool pieces which I love. Although I hadn't planned on joining the circus yesterday morning I'm sure glad I did. I now own a beautiful floral corset, an asymmetrical strap red silk dress with gold buttons, along with a embellished black shell top and a classic black dress with the signature gold buttons. Shout out to my Versace for H&M fanatic friend who decided to help a fellow fashionista out!! Kudos to Viktor!!!! I'm sure your girlfriend is enjoying her new digs thanks to you! I know I am. Check out what I got below.
